homeless jesus...rejected by the Church

A sculpture of a homeless Jesus was rejected by two prominent Catholic churches, St. Michael’s Cathedral in Toronto and St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York...

Says it all, don't it?

Jesus, Conrad, when yer guts are full, you ain’t got no stomach for being reminded other people are hungry—especially if it’s this guy.

And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

Anon,

my little verse says exactly the same thing.I see scripture as a sort of flip book version of the ugly real we see lying curled on street benches...

I actually think this speaks to us in our time.

No Renaissance artist would have thought of doing a sculpture like this--or wouldn't they?

Suffering is personal and in your face, if you see it in the street.

Shame the church has misinterpreted its own agenda and rejected this very powerful image.

I couldn't agree more with you. The present pope Francis, self-styled poet of the people, has recently given his official condemnation of 'capitalism'. And where did he give this speech? Sitting atop his velvet throne in a sumptuous Vatican reception hall.

They just don't get it!
