Multiculturalism here means
that
if
I stood
rapt
by the eyes
or
flaming kameez
or
smile
or
raven hair-
and
if in growing love
dared
kiss
an umber neck
or
smooth
a downy arm
or
give her
her
first
red
red
rose-
it
means
she'd
be
ceremoniously
cold
at
dawn

On Sunday 29 January, 2012 Mohammad Shafia, 58, his wife Tooba Yahya, 42, and their son Hamed, 21 were each found guilty of four counts of first-degree murder. The judge condemned them for killing family members Geeti, Zainab, Sahar and Rona out of a "twisted concept of honour."

heartfelt poem on a sensitive topic
thanks, Conrad
p.s. I agree with you on Alden Nowlan, another favourite in the 'people's poet' canon with Milt (a new 'Selected' may be out this summer!), Purdy, Livesay, etc.
Thanks, Chris
Can't wait to get the new Acorn 'Selected'. Great news!
I'll be getting a review copy of James Deahl's new book soon.
Long live people's poetry!
it's not multiculturalism. people are stupid and will find excuses for wrong-doing. if it wasn't honor of Islam, it would have been another jealousy or convenience trumped up by troubled minds.
