Today I read a book called Eunoia

And the ghost of Jack Spicer suddenly dictated to me the following poem, word for word 'cause it's his, in his typically languid way:

A is a blank piece of driftwood being busted. E is a carpenter whose pockets are filled with saws, and shadows, and needles. I is a pun. O is an Egyptian tapestry remembering the glories of an unknown alien. U is the reverse of W. They are not vowels.

When [Plato] said it first, he created the world.
From one ghost to another.

Ed,

Spicer's rocked my world. I count myself now among the happy 'ghosts' Spicer talks to whenever I'm getting sadly depressed about the state of poetry these days.

And will check out Ott and Samperi. Count on it.

Strong poem, Conrad... and yes to Spicer. But Marlatt? I don't recognize her in your words below...

Long may the dialogue continue!

Happy Solstice!!!sou

Happy Solstice, Penn!

If Marlatt's written poetry on 'vowel' theme, please pass along titles to me.

Hope you saw my post on James Deahl's "Poets for Peace" reading in Hamilton on Sunday, December 13th. bill bissett was there and rocked the house with amazing sound poetry!

I'm going to post a video of me reading 'Jack Spicer' with James Deahl. Spicer's a poet who makes me see the 'mystical' in words & in life (or certainly the potential for it). bissett also lets 'spirit' rather than cold words, standing alone, move him and his audiences.

I'm not a big fan of his postmod'language' but the spirit is there, and that's all that really matters to me.
